Bollyqueer is a Bollywood dance class made for and by queer people. It aims to encourage empowerment by breaking down gender and sexuality norms and recognising those who exist beyond the gender binary.
When you walk into a Bollyqueer class, you are not assigned any label, your gender is never assumed, you are never forced to wear clothing that doesn't align with your identity and you are encouraged to dance in a way that makes your heart and body feel its happiest.
Bollyqueer Choreography
We teach variations of choreography so that you get to choose whichever feels most comfortable for you and your body. It’s a way to celebrate the magic of Bollywood dance without having to sacrifice your queerness or identity.
We currently offer two types of classes;
- Our Beginners class, which is the perfect introduction to the bollyqueer community and is for anyone regardless of dance ability or experience.
- Our Improvers class is a step up from beginners ,with faster and slightly more intricate choreography, for anyone that wants to challenge themselves and learn something different.
It is not a requirement to have been to a beginners bollyqueer class before in order to attend an improvers! so come and dance with us!
BOLLYQUEER performances and workshops
Bollyqueer has a pro team that have performed at many corporate events in the last year including Dishoom, AMEX, Manchester Pride, the New York Times and many more.
We also specialise in teaching pop-up group workshops, however, can also assist you with wedding choreography, 1-1 workshops, online classes and much more.
